I have a recipe that calls for powdered almonds. Iv never heard of this. is it just toasted almonds ground really fine? Im sure you can buy this but if possible i would like to make my own, I have almonds on hand that i could use.

dont need to toast them but can be done with a food processor or spice mill or blender. just put your almonds in and blend.
i should add that it will be a little chunky unless you dehydrate the almonds further because the oil/moisture will naturally start to make almond butter but you can grind dehydrate then grind again and get a pretty fine product.
if your goal is not gluten free you can add a little flour while grinding and avoid further dehydrating and get a finer powder.
lastest point it doesnt have a long shelf life... if you dont plan to use it in a few days maybe a week then you will want to put it in the fridge(about a month) or longer storage freeze it(will last for months).
And, if you don't have a food processor, you can always put them in a plastic bag and crush them with mallet or tenderizer.

If you can't get the almonds fine enough for your recipe, look for almond flour or almond meal. Google it.
