I had found memories from my 20's about Jiffy brownie mix.I haven't seen it stocked in years here.I recently came across some and snatched some up.
Wasn't near as good as I remembered :(
Guess it's what I should expect for 50 cents.

Why are my brownies too crumbly and airy?
I baked some brownies last night and although they are incredibly tasty, seriously the best tasting brownies I've ever made, the texture is just off. They were vegan brownies, which I've made before without this texture, but I'm wondering if this recipe lacks a good binder. Any suggestions or thoughts?
The brownie had a very light cake-like texture.

I'd stir in about a half pound of 80%-20% hamburger.
I don't know what a vegan brownie is but it sounds like whatever you removed from the recipe caused the change in texture. My brownies are made with pure chocolate, butter and eggs. That's probably not vegan, huh?

I absolutely LOVE Jiffy Mix. For me, it's kinda like Corn Flakes. Plain, simple and good on it's own, with no complication, that never sucks. It does whatever it's asked. When needed, or used for specific or special purposes it comes through like a trooper. It's got unlimited tweakability. It's a great AP product for whatever I use it for.

LOL. That's what I do w/ chx wings. 40#'s sits nicely in a 5-gal bucket of buttermilk, flavored w/ a nice portion of Tabasco. I double dust (dust them once then when I've gotten through, I dust them again, easy) them in Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix and fry them up. YUM-O.
* Sometimes I extra-season the Jiffy Mix w/ celery salt, ground blk pepper and Webber Kick'N Chicken seasonings. This is the way I go for "naked wings" that have no flavored sauce to go with. People seem to like these just as well. We have found not so much real difference, other than extra cost (LOL) when saucing these wings though.

(http://www.foodieforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?10206-Brownies)BTW, brownies are so easy to make that there's no valid reason to resort to inferior and more expensive mixes.

I don't bake so I don't have all the necessary ingredients stocked.Ergo the expensive mixes.
But both of your recipes at the link look so much better maybe I should start.
