I just realized i have one too many Yanagi Knives. I ordered a Kintaro-Ame Yanagi from Watanabe recently. It is Carbon Steel 30mm with ebony wood octagon handle and ho wood saya. the knife Cost me $646 before shipping and it was used once when i received it to cut about five thin slices of white fish(tai) just to test it out. I am only selling as i was given a Masamoto Honyaki Yanagi as a gift and now have one too many Yanagi's as i was able to acquire a Shigefusa Yanagi that i was looking for for a long time. I decided to put this one up for sale it is the same one i posted in the Cutlery Forum and am selling for $500 shipped in The US. I really wanted to keep this particular knife because the damascuss pattern on it is stunning. I have seen some on watanabe's site and it does not have the same prominent pattern as this one. The only problem is that i really can't make myself keep more than 2 yanagi knives. I already have the shigefusa and the masamoto and suisn hayate sakimaru tako coming. That is pretty much 3 knives for the same purpose. i would rather sell this and get a different knife for another purpose. So my lost is someone else's gain as this yanagi is sold at almost a 25% discount without the wait(i believe custom orders take about 4 weeks right now as he is busy). Basically my price is Watanabe's Kintaro Ame Price without the Ebony handle and Saya option and shipping. If anyone is interested email me at ms4awd@earthlink.net. If no one is interested then i will keep it but i could not make myself not attempt to sell it as i can only reasonably keep 2 yanagis. The pics were taken after the initial test use and after it was cleaned and oiled. Fit and Finish on this knife is excellent. Never sharpened either.
