Check out the knife I noticed on Ebay. The knife has no bolster and the handle extends about an inch past the heel along the spine.

Here (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=11660&item=6161820 514)

I was just looking at it with a bit more interest because of the handle design and wondering why a design like this was made. It appears to me that this design would be perfect for a pinch grip PLUS it would bring a blade-heavy knife closer to being balanced.

Obviously forgetting about blade shape but what do you think about the same designed handle on a Gyuto? Anyone have some insight into this design?

What really seems strange to me is the triangular flat edged blade. I prefer a little belly, even on slicers. I don't think the handle design is that unusual. The blocked Macs actually look like that.

Same idea.

I'm not sure which Macs Fred is talking about. The Haslinger knives really don't have the same design with the handle extending down the spine past the heel. Yes the handle extends onto the spine but the blades heel is still in front of the handle. It's different and I wonder how it feels to have your hand that far onto the blade to pinch grip it. I would think it would be more comfortable since the rounded handle is in your palm rather than the spine (if you had your hand further down the blade with a normal handle/bolster set-up).
