These are my knives, and whatever goes with them.

Most are Global knives that are pretty much 5-10 years old, except for the sharpener and the cheese knife.

Last week I bought the Tojiro Pro Petty F-1030 135mm (bottom left), the Tojiro Pro Gyuto F-1034 270mm (right, third from top) and the Tojiro Pro Santoku F-1036 170mm (above the Petty).

The Global knives I just heard good things about when I moved to Copenhagen to study hence I started buying some of those. I also liked the design of the knives and as I started to use them I found them pretty good - at least they're better than what my parents used to have.
I recently visited a chef (my girlfriend's colleague's boyfriend - did that make sense?) where I saw a sharpening steel and figured out it was about time I bought one. He also told me about this place in Denmark called H.W. Larsen & Sønner that sharpened knives for you so I went there to get my Global knives sharpened, but when I went there I fell for the Tojiro Pro (http://www.hwl.dk/Default.aspx?ID=2745&Purge=True) and bought the Petty and Gyuto.
Then I started reading about knives - typical rather spontaneous of me; buy first read later - and then decided to buy their Santoku and I ordered the Hattori Knife Forums Sujihiki 270mm, which I'm waiting for to get through customs here in Denmark.

I'm still new in the "knife world" as some of you might've already noticed (all the questions), but as I truely enjoy making food, gastronomy and eating great food I'd like to have great tools to prepare it with. Hence I don't think I've bought the last knife :)

In case my image link doesn't work I sincerely hope this link with all my knives (http://bp0.blogger.com/_YqAhwjUA4Qg/Rp9kDgjhaRI/AAAAAAAAAMc/PTOkwKnrEyI/s1600-h/All+knivesa.JPG) work.

Why doesn't the image link work?
I've posted it on my blog and linked to there... :(

Image size is probably the problem as your link to the site works fine. I do know there is a limit to attachments. A jpg can't be larger than 19.5 KB 620 pixels wide and 280 pixels high. The same rules might apply to linked images though I'm not sure.

The pictures Jerome posted in "Jerome's Gallery O' Stuff" are bigger. The first one he has, the Hattori KD is 186.64 kB and 800*600.
I'm puzzled.

Perhaps the link has an error then, like I said I'm really just guessing here.

Anyone out there able to help?
Bob I noticed you got 1024*768 pictures up, any suggestions as to what I should do?

I'll get around to taking better pics of single knives, but I don't want to bother if it doesn't work :)

What I do is upload the pics to Imageshack.com then use the direct link option and insert that link into my post via the "Insert Image" button when making a post. When making the upload from my computer to IS.com I resize to 1024x768 which is an option when you upload. This size is not too big and not too small. If you upload without resizing then the picture will most likely be huge as originally taken.

Imageshack is a great place to store pics. They have several options for showing off pics. They even have an option for forums but they include extra advertsing text so I just use the "direct" link and use the insert image button here on FF to insert the image. Don't use the thumbnails though. IS.com is great...I have 111 pics up right now.

ps. the link of your pics works for me.

Thanks Bob, I got it working now :)

I'll add some pictures when I get the sujihiki (hopefully before my gf's birthday where it's supposed to do a job!)

I believe Global are good knives, but the dimples on the handles can get a bit annoying when using the knives too much I think. Other than that the balance and the ergonomy of the knives are fine. With respect to the sharpness I'm not sure, because I've only have them sharpened once, and haven't tried sharpening them myself - which I haven't with any of my knives. Hence I cannot comment on the sharpness or really for that matter retention of sharpness.
The Tojiro knives are very good, both with respect to sharpness (factory), ergonomy and beauty (they're with 63 layers of damascus steel). As already mentioned I can't comment too much no the sharpness or retention of sharpness as the knives are brand new as well. I enjoy using them, as does my girlfriend. And when you love food and love to prepare food it's great to have good tools :)

Overall the Tojiros are a lot better than the Globals I'd say :)

...and why doesn't the picture work anymore (it's just the link working). It's getting annoying! :)
