For all you Iron Chef fans, I pose these questions.
If you were to be invited on IC, what would you want the secret ingredient to be & why? Which Iron Chef would you like to go up against & why?

Morimoto and Japanese Sika Venison.
I find Morimoto the most unpredictable and most challenging with best knife skills. Sika venison because of it's small size( about the size of a sheep ), deep dark sweet flesh with perfect balance of gameyness. I also think being a Texas boy, it would give me a little leg up. There are Sika in west Texas on hunting leases and you can order it from Broken Arrow Ranch on line.

I would choose Kobe and make his little musical troupe play Vivaldi, Paganini, etc through the entire thing. Ingredient: FUNGHI!!! (love those shrooms) Italian wines, limoncello and grappa until everyone is falling off their chairs. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Michiba Rokusaburo san if I may!(always wanted to say that)

And the theme ingredient: 2ft long Hamachi (Yellow Tail)and Jalapeno (my favourite local chef makes a very nice sashimi with the these two).

Flay would kill the judges so you would win by disqualification. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Do you think that Morimoto has better knife skills than Sakai? Or were you refering to ICA only?

I really love watching Sakai peel fruit. His knife skills are beyond reproach.

Yes I do. Not by much though. I think they are better in different areas and I find Morimotos more impressive.

That's how I make myself peel things. When I was peeling loads of apple every other day I got pretty fast at it. Now I'm slow again. Some time I miss being a grunt in the kitchen.

Flay or Ramsey hmmmm

I think the only music that can match either is a big band of Japanese Kodo drummers...

Just watched The King of the Iron chef grand finale... tomorrow I am watching the King VS Alain Pasard. Absolutely hilarious.

If I ever go to Japan, I really want to eat the Michiba's and Kandegawa'a restaurants. I think Tatsuya knows someone who knows either of them. I cannot remember exactly, but I think he said something about that.

I would definatley have to agree with Fred on this one, Sakai is the one that has the better skills with a knife in my eyes. I would like to face Sakai, the theme should be something that I'm pretty familiar with, perhaps fruit or game meats...
