This knife was not listed in original post. More info please? I almost hate to ask for a picture since it's apparently a touchy subject these days but if you have one can you please post it? Thanks.

Thanks for the pics of the honyaki. Is this one of his kintaro-ami honyaki's? The last pic looks like it. Can you please post more info on this knife? New? Sharpened? Kintaro-ami? Steel? Still available? Current asking price?
Thanks.

About the steel, this is made from a single steel with a hard tempered edge and soft, tough spine, like a samurai sword. The hamon is clearly visible. It is not his kintaro-ame pattern welded damascus. According to Larrin and other folks at KF who I asked, the wootz like pattern is probably caused by alloy banding, similar to Ed Fowler's 52100 "wootz" discussed on Bladeforums. This wa gyuto is used, it has some scratches remaining which I could not completely remove. I have thinned the blade out to my preference, and hand rubbed the finish to 600 grit. The photos were taken before it was sharpened, I think they speak for themselves as to the knife's appearance.
It has been sharpened by me through the following series of waterstones: 1000, aoto blue 2000-2500, 3000, 4000, 6000, natural Honyama Awase, Kitayama 10,000. It is still available, current asking is $379.00, the new cost was $462.00.
