Our local Notre Dame Fighting Irish looked pretty weak last week against San Diego State and we were getting worried despite the win. Today was a big win against the Michigan Wolverines. That's an old rivalry and a big deal around here. Congratulations, Fighting Irish. I suspect, however, that USC will be a little tougher.

Yes, We didn't even need to wait for USC. Michigan State beat us on Saturday. Personally, I think Charlie Weiss is a buffoon and needs to go. To this day, nobody around here can figure out why Lou Holtz ever got fired. It has been downhill ever since.

Another of major problem facing the athletic programs at ND is the new President. He barely tolerates them. He views the university as an educational institution and nothing else. He doesn't lift a finger to make things the best they can be for athletics. He even sold the TV broadcasting station that was owned by the university. If it isn't educational, he doesn't want to hear about it.

I never knew why they got rid of lou. a couple players got into trouble? he took the fall?

university presidents can stick it. if it's all about education, get rid of these ridiculous conference tournaments at the end of the basketball season.

it's all about the money.

and no playoff for d-1 football? they'd have to share money w/ ncaa.

I don't need a lecture from those ho's on higher education.

Nobody knows. Holtz had been in the hospital for a while and the team was not doing very well in his absence. As soon as he recovered, they fired him. I remember the interview on the radio. He was trying to uphold the University's stance that he had resigned but when they asked him why, he was just confused and couldn't make a lucid answer. The rest of us are confused to this day. He was one of the handful of best football coaches ND has ever had. Perhaps not a Knute Rockne, but a great one nevertheless with a national championship to his credit.

absolutely.

I get a big kick out of him and mark may doing college football. and some of lou's "pep talks" are classic.
