I got my 270mm gyuto today from Mark @ CKTG! Ordered it Tuesday and it arrived by noon Friday, can't ask for much better than that especially with free shipping. His customer service was excellent as always.
This being my first handmade j-knife I don't have anything for comparison, but the f&f seems very good. There is very little gap at all to fill in the tang hole, there are none of the wavy blade issues that others reported, the back 1/2 of the blade hits flatly on the board and there are no gaps as I moved up the blade curve on a flat surface. There are some minor issues with the bevel but nothing that can't be flattened out easily I would think.
The Kuro-ushi finish is very nice and even with gaps just where the ss tang begins on both side. I was surprised just how light the knife was after hearing it has heft compared to other knives like it. It is a tad bit thicker then I expected at the spine, but looks like the wide bevels give it very nice geometry.
Will get a full review written once I have used it for a few days.
Got one nice photo of the box then the camera batteries died so the rest are iphone quality. The last two images show the uneven grind on the bevels, which were the only flaw I could really see with the knife.
