Thanks for the comments guys the wood is curly maple with acid finish and a little transtint dye. The hardware came from Rockler. Heres the link to the hardware from Rockler....http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?p...ampaign=Google

Glad to hear that because dyed maple was my guess :) it may be too late for Christmas, but that is a really neat idea, thanks. I am working on a cake server and maybe an icecream scoop for my folks, hadn't thought about a pie cutter/pizza wheel.

Heres a scoop I did awhile back with walnut and ebony.....Mainly a knife maker but bought a small lathe for handles and now I'm just sort of playing around.... Larry
