Default How to prepare a carrot cake

Hi all, I need to make a carrot cake but all the recipes I've looked at are a wee bit complicated and generally measured in 'cups' a la USA! Please can someone point me in the direction of a simple recipe for this simple woman who only understands 1lbs & oz's?

    Thanks

Carrot Cake! One of my very favorite!
There are 8 OZ fluid in a cup. Or a cup of shredded Carrots contains 8OZ.

    Does that help you?

The problem is that English measurements confuse volume and weight. Yes, there are 8 FLUID ounces in a cup, but the WEIGHT of a cup of flour is between 4 and 4.5 ounces, and a cup of shredded carrots weighs maybe a pound. Conversions are not easy as they depend on the material being measured.

I found a few recipes for carrot cake using metric measurements:

www.allrecipes.com has several, and the site allows you to covert from U.S. to metric measurements.

Just use cups, get a set of cup measures. They do sell them in the UK, really handy for all sorts.

If you must use imperial measures BBC good food has two carrot uk recipes in grams (easy enough to convert to Ilbs)
