Nah KC they aren't gone apparently they are still very popular. aframes has them but they sell out often and frequently, so it might require just getting in touch with them directly.

It is funny though that they are so hard to find these days since people rarely speak of them anymore. It seems its all Suisin and Konosuke and whoever is making the SAKAI lasers that get the pub.

Ashi, Konosuke, Sakai Takayuki (Grand Cheff), and Sakai Yusuke generally cost less than Suisin and Tadatsuna for close to the same product. Maybe that's why?

Could be but then again I can always find those brands in stock without alot of trouble getting a Suisin or a Tad can require more dilligence which might also explain it. If it is easier to come by and you get just about as good a product then why not pick that.

Maybe it's just as simple as that Suisin and Tadatsuna make less knives.

I always liked my Masamoto's,they are not talked about much either. For Wa-Gyuto the Honyaki is 1,049.95 & the KS is 325.00.I think it might have to do wt. price. It's been a long while since I bought a Masamoto, but they are great knives.

Suisin makes great Japan style single bevels.

The only German vendor for Suisin still has the Inox Honyaki Series ready to ship.
