Unfortunately it turns out I don't like the takohiki pattern because it has no belly to the blade. Why too bad? Because I spent and hour and half flattening the back or inside of the blade so that I could put an edge on it. You can see how much grinding I had to do on the lower part of the image. I used the knife exactly twice and then went back to the yanagis.
It is a 300mm SK hagane kasumi blade with ho wood handle and buffalo horn ferrule. The Tatsutogi line is the Kikuichi's budget line because of the SK steel and less time spent on fit and finish. That's why it took an hour and a half to flatten the darn thing. Beautiful condition. Yours for $99, shipping included.
